About WuBaEats
Danny Wu – Founder & Owner
“吴” represents the proud family name "Wu"
Launched at the height of the pandemic in 2020, WuBaEats blends "Wu" with "Ba" (爸) — the Mandarin word for father — symbolizing the roots of the brand’s story.
Danny Wu is a seasoned professional in the hospitality industry since the early 2000s, with a career that includes managing events and helping open top 4- and 5-star hotels in downtown Toronto, as well as shaping award-winning restaurants both locally and in the Caribbean. While the dream of entrepreneurship — particularly owning an events and catering company — had always been present, he hesitated for years, largely due to limited experience in the kitchen.
The challenges brought on by COVID-19 became a turning point. The lockdowns not only prompted a career shift away from front-of-house operations but also offered a rare opportunity to reconnect with his now 85-year-old father. Inspired by his mother and guided by his father’s deep knowledge of Taiwanese cuisine, Danny stepped into the kitchen — and into the dream.
In that time, what had once been a distant goal became a reality. WuBaEats was born from the reconnection of family, heritage, and a renewed sense of purpose. Its signature Bao Collection and the story of Bao That Life are a tribute to those roots — bringing something personal, flavorful, and meaningful to the table.
